چکیده
Abstract Background Diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) is one of the major diabetic complication and affects quality life (QoL).This study aims at assessing frequency DPN among accidentally diagnosed patients, identifying risk factors linked to in those determine potential effect on QoL. Results According nerve conduction (NCS), 32 patients (44.4%) had polyneuropathy. Polyneuropathy significantly associated with older age, higher hip waist measurements, weight, body mass index (BMI). About 53% polyneuropathy were current smokers versus 25% non-smokers. Longer duration since first diagnosis, fasting blood sugar (FBG), 2-h post-prandial (2-hPP) glucose, HbA1c are also (PN) ( p < 0.001). Being insulin was PN = 0.002). Increasing BMI, smoking, increased increase by 1.314, 19.963, 3.302-folds, respectively. An unhealthy diet PN.Hyperlipidemia 0.028). A significant positive association found between DQoL scores symptom scores. Conclusion proportion type 2 time which adversely At it highly suggested that proper screening. procedures be used for DPN. Obesity, elevated

متن کاملNerve conduction studies in adrenomyeloneuropathy.
OBJECTIVE Adrenomyeloneuropathy (AMN) is an X linked metabolic disorder presenting with progressive spastic paraparesis in the third to fifth decade of life. Although peripheral neuropathy is also present in most patients, prominent pyramidal signs may make its clinical recognition difficult. The objective was to characterise the peripheral neuropathy in patients with AMN by nerve conduction st...

tion techniques, it is important to pursue more specialized methods of evaluating the peripheral nervous system. Additionally, nerves requiring needle excitation and less commonly studied nerves are of importance. From time-to-time patients may present with lesions affecting specific sensory branches that yield small amplitude responses or require averaging techniques to better define the desir...

متن کاملThe Relationship between Nerve Conduction Studies and Electromyography Findings in Patients with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Background: Carpal tunnel syndrome is the most common neuropathy in the general population. Nerve conduction studies are among the standard methods for diagnosing carpal tunnel syndrome. Electromyography is painful and unpleasant, and if nerve conduction studies can be used to diagnose axonal injury in carpal tunnel syndrome, electromyography might be replaced. Objectives: This study aimed t...
